Migration from MapGuide 6.5

Many of Arrow Geomatics Inc. customers are in the process of moving from Autodesk MapGuide 6.5 to Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise 2008. One of the key issues facing these customers is switching from client-side development with ActiveX controls, to the more robust server-side development environment. This transition requires:
  • Knowledge about Server-side development such as PHP, .NET and JSP.
  • Managing client-states within a web browser.
  • Centralizing of spatial storage - such as using Oracle Spatial or SQL Server.
  • Development translators for data such as the MapGuide Studio API or using FME from SAFE Software.
  • Staff Training of new products.

Moving from Map 3D Oracle 9i SQL Extension (OSE) to FDO Oracle 10G

Much of Arrow Geomatics Consulting services consist of migration of older systems to the latest versions of Software. We can move your AutoCAD Map/Oracle 9i applications to Oracle 10g or 11g. Historically, AutoCAD Map 3D used the Oracle SQL Extension (OSE) to store its spatial data in the database (including Link Templates, Object Data and Block Attributes. Now with FDO, you will have to use new techniques to store information in Oracle, but the result is a faster, more robust implementation in Oracle.

In order to facilitate this migration, Arrow Geomatics Inc. will:

  • Share its knowledge and expertise in Oracle
  • Train power-users and administrators in Oracle and Map 3D FDO technologies
  • Create performance-based tweaks and architecture changes in Oracle (i.e. Materialized Views)
  • Build custom .NET Forms for data entry in Map 3D
  • Develop Object Classification methodologies and templates with XML
